<p style="text-align: justify;">STABILO International’s latest product range, EASYergonomics experts, has been launched on the European market in an appealing, youth-orientated packaging style designed by Burgopak Germany. Targeted towards children and adolescents, the packaging design has drawn upon the theme of “human engineering,” reflected through the unification of structure and image for an eye-catching and compelling retail solution.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">A simple yet effective symbol of the hand has been utilised across the range of packaging, offering both an immediate indication of the product’s function as well as enhancing the brand’s shelf presence. To stimulate consumers’ imaginations and attract their attention, the packs feature the hand as a clear window on the front of the pack, visually displaying the contents as an x-ray image.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Focusing on STABILO’s dedication to innovative and ergonomic design, the packaging furthermore features the added benefits of a retail-ready hanging hook and user-friendly cartonboard structure. Two colour variations have been produced in blue and pink.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Sanofi has chosen the award-winning Burgopak slider packaging design for its heartburn treatment, <strong>Maalox Plus</strong>, which was launched into the Italian market in September this year.</p>
<p>Maalox Plus is one of four products to be launched by Sanofi in the Burgopak slider design. Sanofi’s first product launch was Dolipranelib for the French OTC market in September 2010. Sanofi’s heartburn brand Maalox in flavours Menthe and Citron have also been launched. Maalox Plus will be Sanofi’s first product to be launched into the Italian market using the Burgopak slider.</p>
<p>The Burgopak slider’s compact size and engaging opening system is complimented by the products bright yellow outer carton and contrasting orange blister chosen by Sanofi. This combination ensures that the Maalox Plus product boldly stands out from its OTC competitors on pharmacy shelves and also aims to increase consumer brand recognition. The Burgopak slider design itself focuses on patient compliance and ensures all vital information is clearly displayed and available whenever the product is used.</p>

The Pentawards ceremony, the only major worldwide competition devoted exclusively to packaging design, was held in New York on 29th September 2011.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">With nearly 1000 entries from 5 continents, this years Pentaward winners were selected by a jury of international marketing specialists and designers chaired by Gerad Caron, founder of Carre Noir (France) and with other members from companies including BIC Corporation (USA), Procter &amp; Gamble (Belgium), Turner Duckworth (UK), Suntory (Japan) and Cowan Group (Australia).</p>

<p>Burgopak’s award-winning packaging design for Aura Health &amp; Wellbeing showcases a wonderfully colourful and minimalistic branding aesthetic as well as the clever integration of logo and structural design to create a central and uniform identity.</p>

<p>Aura Health &amp; Wellbeing is a new modern health and lifestyle brand offering organic and traditional Chinese health food, supplements and beauty remedies within the UK. With over ten years of experience within the packaging industry, Burgopak were called upon to ensure the new brand would fit comfortably into the UK market by portraying a sense of its traditional Chinese roots whilst maintaining a fresh and modern look.</p>
<p>Colour, shape and form have been consciously used and considered throughout the Aura Health &amp; Wellbeing design project. Resembling origami style structures of intricate folds and precise structural design, the cardboard packaging as well as the logo motif are designed around an abstract representation of a tealeaf, repeated three times to represent inner strength. A palette of natural colour tones further work to subtly reflect the organic nature of the products ingredients, as well as distinguishing the different product families.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Burgopak has developed the brand identity, artwork and structural packaging design for the complete range of Aura Health &amp; Wellbeing products.</strong></p>
<p>Aura Health &amp; Wellbeing is a new modern health and lifestyle brand offering organic and traditional Chinese health food, supplements and beauty remedies within the UK.</p>
<p>To ensure the new brand would fit comfortably into the UK market, Aura Health &amp; Wellbeing called on Burgopak to portray a sense of its traditional Chinese roots whilst maintaining a fresh and modern look.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">The branding, artwork and structural design for Aura are intrinsically linked, using colour, shape and form to depict a central and uniform identity for the new lifestyle product brand. A palette of natural colour tones was chosen to reflect the organic nature of the products ingredients, as well as consciously being used to easily distinguish the different product families.</p>

<p style="text-align: left;">The Aura logo motif was designed to illustrate an abstract representation of the tealeaf, a symbol itself which holds significant value in traditional Chinese customs as a form of divination. The structural design for Aura’s tea bags and mixed granule boxes reflect and tie in nicely with the shape of the brand’s logo, integrating the tealeaf motif into the lid structure and sides of the packs.</p>
<p>Burgopak also developed all artwork layout, label design and colour matching for the Aura range. Placement of text was integral to the design process to assist in making the products easy to find in point of sale displays and to clearly display essential product information. Clean and simple artwork was developed which could also be screen-printing directly onto Aura’s beauty cream pots. All plastic bottles, pumps and pots were sourced by the client.</p>

Aura Health &amp; Wellbeing offers herbal teas, plain and mixed herbal granules, massage oils, herbal supplement capsules and beauty creams.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This year’s <a href="http://www.dandad.org/talent/new-blood" target="_blank">D&amp;AD New Blood</a> exhibition and festival has proven to be a huge success and celebration of the next generation of creative talent. Held at Shoreditch’s Old Truman Brewery, the warehouse style venue was the perfect host and open platform for recent graduates of all design disciplines, as well as universities and colleges, showcasing their work.</p>

<p>Within the exhibition and festivities, businesses and studios from all areas of the design industry were also invited to hold workshops. These group-based activities offered attending graduates and students a good networking opportunity, a chance to gain some insight into the working world, ask as many questions as possible and pick up some handy tips and advice for their future careers.</p>
<p>Keen supporters of fresh talent, and already with a studio comprising of an eclectic array of skills, Burgopak Design &amp; Packaging were keen to subject this year’s New Blood with an introduction to packaging design.</p>
<p>Held on the festival’s main fete day, Sunday 3rd July, our workshop was based on exploring structural innovation and paper engineering. The afternoon commenced with a talk by Burgopak’s creative director Dane Whitehurst, who gave a detailed insight into the packaging industry, demonstrating Burgopk’s approach and how our studio works. It also highlighted how a typical project runs from the initial brief, right through to production and delivery.</p>
<p>An experienced college tutor, Dane’s talk triggered a broad scope of in-depth questions from our workshop attendees who were all eager to understand more. It was fantastic to see so much enthusiasm from a clearly talented bunch!</p>
<p>With a brilliant group of twenty-five attendees and Burgopak’s Design &amp; Packaging studio all there to help out, the workshop then proceeded into an interactive and hands-on packaging challenge.</p>
<p>Carrying on with the theme “from concept to production to delivery,” we set the group a packaging design brief by a fictional new brand of alcohol: Burg Premium Vodka. The idea was to come up with an interesting but low-cost packaging solution that could promote a new product to retailers, as part of a launch.</p>
<p>Taking on board their learnings from Dane’s presentation, the graduates needed to consider for the brief both structural design and how the branding could align with this, as well as considering how their designs may be produced and delivered.</p>
<p>The workshop was split into three groups, each with a designer to oversee their work and help out with their solutions and thinking processes. Burgopak’s Managing Director Rosie Ashurst and Account Director Katie O’Callaghan posed as the ‘client’ to provide feedback and add to the sense of a real work place situation.</p>
<p>The result: All three groups produced incredibly well thought-out solutions, each entirely different from the other which provided some interesting discussion for the larger group session. With the materials provided, sketches were drawn and rough mock-ups were made. Each group presented their work back to the others as though they were pitching for the job. Presentations were made at two stages – once half way through to see where everyone was at and again at the end once the project was complete.</p>
<p>On the whole, the level of talent that was exposed, creative thinking and calibre of work were of a very high standard. It was great to see everyone getting their creative juices flowing and throwing ideas around – each and every person was involved in some way throughout the whole process, feeding off each others ideas, so gaining a sense of how a studio runs could really be felt in that kind of positive environment.</p>
<p>As a studio, we found the whole workshop process incredibly rewarding – seeing the amount of enthusiasm from our group and how they were channelling our constructive feedback into their ideas and designs was fantastic to see. It felt good to know we could impart some valuable inside-the-industry knowledge as well as vital considerations for designing for a client.</p>
