CitizenCard welcome pack packaging design

Aim: Promote and support the March 2011 launch of CitizenCard, a new and official holographic proof-of-age and photo-ID scheme for residents of Britain and Ireland.

Strategy: With the company originally founded in 1999, CitizenCard’s new product launch needed to assist in increasing brand identity, differentiating itself within the marketplace as well as to inform recipients of its advantages and validity for use in most shops, pubs, clubs and airlines.

Tactic: Create a packaging solution that would be not only a distinguishing design but also a format that works to educate recipients.

Design: An alternative to receiving cards glue-dotted onto a letter, the new compact card-sized design utilises Burgopak’s sliding mechanism to both neatly present the CitizenCard and communicate essential information on all parts of the package. The inviting format encourages recipients to interact with and keep a hold of the presentation pack, increasing the likelihood that all necessary information is read and retained.

End Result: Of the project, CitizenCard’s CEO Andrew Chevis says: “We’re delighted with Burgopak’s card carrier for the new Holographic CitizenCard. It’s concise and practical. I’m sure our cardholders will appreciate its beauty and simplicity.”

The new holographic CitizenCard is available for purchase from March 2011. Online applications cost from £15.00. Application forms for discounted cards are available from a range of UK retailers of age-restricted products. The scheme is Government-approved PASS (Proof of Age Standards Scheme) Accredited.
